Strength and Conditioning


The William Taylor Strength and Conditioning Center is located in Kennamer Hall and is widely regarded as one of the top training facilities in the Ohio Valley Conference. At just over 6,000 square feet, it is home to a wide array of strength building machines that have played a role in JSU’s 30-plus conference championships over the past five seasons.

The strength and conditioning staff is headed by Scott Austin, who enters his ninth season at JSU in 2009-10. Austin is responsible for the design and implementation of the department’s entire strength and conditioning program. He is also a veteran of the United States Military and served 19 months in Iraq, beginning in 2006 and ending in the fall of 2007.

Also playing vital roles in the JSU Strength and Conditioning department are Wes Brasseal and Ricky Rutledge. Brasseasl begins his fifth season at JSU, while Rutledge. A former head football coach at Jacksonville High School, also begins his fifth season with JSU.
