2009 OUTLOOK: Had a tremendous freshman year where he was a Freshman All-American and the OVC Freshman of the Year…he is a guy that wants to be the very best at whatever he does and works that way on a daily basis, and it pays off…an outstanding defensive player, accurate throwing arm and a switch hitter…can steal bases and plays hard everyday…gets a good jump on the ball and is a very accurate thrower…look for him to continue to play a major role on this team this season.

SUMMER BASEBALL: Played in the Texas Collegiate League with JSU teammates Jason Zylstra and Jake Sharrock in 2008…led the TCL in batting average and finished third in hits, finishing with a .310 average…was named to the TCL All-League team as a centerfielder and was named by Baseball America as two of the TCL’s Top 10 Prospect…played 2004 and 2005 Babe Ruth All-Stars, winning the State Championship and the South Region to advanced to the World Series…finished third in the Babe Ruth World Series in both 2004 and 2005…set the Babe Ruth World Series record with 11 stolen bases in 2005 and was named to the All-World Series Team in 2005…played 2006 with the Boys of Baseball team.

JSU CAREER: (2008) Made an immediate impact as a true freshman and was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year after leading the OVC in runs scored with 65…was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America squad and to the Ping Baseball All-Ping! Freshman Team after batting .340, after recording 73 hits, with 16 doubles, three triples, one home runs and 30 RBI…started 57 of 58 games, including 55 in left field and two in right field…finished the season with 22 multiple-hit games, including 10 3-hit games…had seven multiple-RBI games…posted a season-best seven game hitting streak…had his first 3-hit game in the third game of the season, going 3-for-4 vs Millsaps (2/26)…had his best series of the year against Samford, going 6-for-11 with four runs scored and three walks…had a career-RBI game at Morehead State on 5/4, where he went 3-for-6, with three doubles and drove in three runs…hit his only homer of the season in JSU’s 19-7 win at Austin Peay on 3/30…batted .356 vs OVC opponents with 11 doubles, one triple, one home run and 19 RBI…batted .373 with runners in scoring position…Gamecocks posted a 28-7 record with him in the leadoff batting spot.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for David Deerman, Michael Graben and Rusty Burroughs at Jacksonville High School for five years…was a three-time first-team All-State selection (2005, 2006, 2007) and was named second-team All-State in 2004 by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…was a four-time All-County selection…was named to the Birmingham News All-State team as a senior and was a member of the Anniston Star’s Diamond Dazzler teams after batting .430 with 66 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .593 as a senior…finished his career with a .446 batting average with 216 runs scored and 112 stolen bases for the Golden Eagles…was selected to the East-West Lion’s Club All-Star team in 2006…also lettered in football, where he was an All-County punter for the Golden Eagles…was an honor student and was named the Salutatorian of his high school class…was named Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

PERSONAL: Full name is Thomas David Cunningham, III…son of T. David Cunningham, Jr., and Brenda…born on March 20, 1989…has one younger brother, Tyler…lists the Atlanta Braves as his favorite major league team…majoring in Psychology at JSU.
